Context of the verse (Alma 46:12)

This verse is found in the Book of Alma, which is part of the Book of Mormon. At this point in history, there is internal conflict among the Nephites. An ambitious man named Amalickiah seeks to become king and destroy the people's freedom. He succeeds in convincing several Nephites to follow him, causing great division within the nation.

Faced with this threat, Captain Moroni, a righteous military leader faithful to God, takes an inspiring initiative:
