Taha'a is known worldwide as the "Vanilla Island" because it produces around 80% of French Polynesia's total vanilla production, permeating the air with its captivating scent. In addition to its vanilla, it is also a hotspot for Tahitian black pearl cultivation, with numerous pearl farms dotting its turquoise waters. The island also shares the same lagoon as its more famous big sister, Raiatea, earning them the nickname "Sister Islands." And here's a lesser-known fact: Taha'a is one of the few islands in Polynesia where you can still find remains of marae (ancient Polynesian places of worship) hidden within its lush vegetation, testifying to a rich and preserved history.
